US, China to work on halting nuclear spread

WASHINGTON (AP) - July 27, 2009 Obama says the more nations get access to such weapons, the more likely they are to be used. He singled out North Korea and Iran, two nations believed to developing nuclear weapons programs.

Obama spoke Monday at the opening of two days of high-level talks in Washington between the United States and China. He said the two countries have a major responsibility to lead in the efforts to curb nuclear proliferation, build economic stability and a cleaner environment.
