Police search for fatal stabbing suspect

Police in Wilmington, Delaware are on the hunt for the suspect they say stabbed a 19-year-old man to death Sunday night. Police say 18-year-old Joe Cooper is considered dangerous.

At approximately 10:05 p.m. police were called to the area of 22nd and Washington Streets for a report of a stabbing. When they arrived at the scene, officers were then directed to Wilmington Hospital where they were told a stabbing victim had just arrived.

The victim, identified as 19-year-old Maurice Allen of the 400 block of Bethune Drive in New Castle, became involved in an argument with the suspect on the corner of McCabe Avenue and Monroe Street. During the argument, the suspect pulled out a kitchen knife from his waistband and stabbed the victim in the chest.

Witnesses put the victim in a vehicle and transported him to the hospital.

The victim was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Wilmington Police say Joe Cooper is wanted for Murder 1st degree.

Wilmington Police are asking anyone who may know of his whereabouts to contact police by calling 9-1-1 immediately.
