The fire broke out about 12:30 Wednesday morning on the 500 block of North Ohio Avenue near Hummock Avenue.
The fire quickly went to several alarms as flames raced through the pair of three-story buildings.
The roof of the building where the fire broke out has collapsed.
Several people lost their homes in the fire.
One firefighter has suffered a minor injury.
Investigators are looking for the cause.
