5 wolf dogs found, 1 still missing in NJ

HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - October 1, 2009

Authorities say the missing animal was last seen early Thursday, several hours after it was struck by a car. It's not known if the dog was seriously injured.

The dogs escaped from their 9-acre enclosure in Holland Township Wednesday and five were soon captured. Cliff Zager, the animals' owner, says they got out through a gate that somehow had been pulled out of its hinges.

Police have said the dogs are not aggressive, but could become troublesome if cornered. They believe one of the animals killed a cat Wednesday before it was captured.

The escape marked the fourth time this year that some of the dogs have gotten loose.
