Dover police to increase patrols near bars

DOVER, Del. - December 4, 2009

Lt. Steven Getek met Thursday with Downtown Dover Partnership officials. He says the increased police presence will begin Saturday.

Residents and downtown business owners complained about not being able to sleep because of loud drinkers heading to their cars and finding beer bottles, vomit and urine around their doors.

Downtown Dover Partnership Board President Gary Patterson says the board will discuss the issue further at their January meeting.

Getek says owners of downtown's four bars need to let customers know police will be strongly enforcing the laws.
