Casanova's steamy memoirs given to French library

The first page of a manuscript written by the 18th-century libertine Giacomo Casanova is displayed at the French culture ministry in Paris, Thursday Feb. 18, 2010. French culture minister Frederic Mitterrand signed today the deal confirming the acquisition with the heir of Brockhaus publishing house, the German publisher who acquired them in the 19th century of the manuscript of Casanova's memoirs, 'The Story Of My Life', written in French in the late 1780's. The manuscript given to France's national library Thursday begins simply, yet seductively: "The story of Jacques Casanova ... written by himself."
