Police say Colleen Gallagher, 25, of the 300 block of East Woodlawn Avenue is listed in critical but stable condition at the hospital.
According to investigators, Gallagher and an acquaintance were inside her home when she heard someone knock on the door at approximately 2:00 a.m.
When she opened the door, police say, two assailants forced their way inside and, during the course of a brief struggle, one of the assailants discharged a weapon, striking Gallagher in the shoulder.
The acquaintance was not injured.
No arrests have been made.
