Pizza delivery driver ambushed, robbed

NEW CASTLE, Del. - March 21, 2010

Police say a 22-year-old female was accosted and robbed at gunpoint by a single gunman while she was attempting to deliver a (bogus) food order.

At 3:55 p.m., County Police responded to the 10 Cheswold Boulevard apartments for a report of an armed robbery that just occurred. When police arrived, they contacted the female victim who indicated she had responded to the Cheswold Boulevard address to deliver a pizza order.

When she knocked on the door, a male subject emerged from the laundry room and produced a large black revolver. The subject pointed the weapon at the victim and robbed her of an undisclosed amount of cash before forcing her into a nearby "electrical room."

The suspect then fled the area and escaped.

He is described as a dark skinned, unshaven black male who was thin in stature and stood about 5'11". He was last seen wearing a dark colored shirt, blue jeans, and a tan "boonie" hat.

Police later learned the apartment where the food was supposed to be delivered to was not occupied.
