Update: Woman splashed with chemical, burned

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA - April 23, 2010

The woman is being treated at the Temple Hospital Burn Center for treatment of 1st and 2nd degree burns. She was burned on her chest, face and head.

The incident happened in South Philadelphia along the 800 block of South 16th Street, according to authorities, just after 8:30 a.m.

Philadelphia Police are investigating the incident, but it's not clear at this point if it was intentional or accidental. Earlier reports indicated investigators thought the chemical was gasoline. Police are still trying to determine exactly what the chemical was.

There's no word on a possible motive for the attack, but investigators say they know who their suspect is. No identity has been released yet.
