Phillies' Madson heads to DL as Lidge returns

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - April 30, 2010

Madson, who filled in as the Phillies closer in Lidge's absence, went on the disabled list Friday with a broken right toe. Team officials say Madson was injured while blowing a save in Wednesday's 7-6, 11-inning win over San Francisco.

Madson is 1-0 with four saves in six chances and a 7.00 ERA in nine games this season.

Lidge was activated for Friday's game against the New York Mets. He went 0-1 with a 5.19 ERA in eight rehab appearances while recovering from two offseason surgeries.

To replace Madson, the Phillies recalled left-hander Antonio Bastardo from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
