Suspect jumps in lake, hides under lily pad

OAKLYN, N.J. - June 7, 2010

It all began around 10:00 a.m. with the robbery of a Taco Bell at 338 White Horse Pike in Oaklyn.

Officers were alerted to the robbery by an employee who escaped out of the back door and ran to the police department a few block away.

Officers began the search for two suspects and a getaway driver. Police eventually spotted the two robbery suspects by Newton Lake. One was hiding by the edges of the lake, police said, while the other was in the water hiding under a lily pad.

Police also found cash in the lake, but are not sure if they recovered all of the money stolen from the Taco Bell.

At least one of the suspects is a former employee of the Taco Bell, police said.

A short time later police located the getaway driver, who was also arrested.

The identities of those involved have not been released.
