NJ woman accused of trying to have family injured

CHERRY HILL, N.J. - June 15, 2010

Suzanne Cohen lives in a neatly kept house on Balsam Road in Cherry Hill. On Friday, the grandmother was arrested after allegedly offering money to an undercover cop.

"She didn't want to kill, just do bodily harm," said Det. Sgt. Joseph Vitarelli of the Cherry Hill Police Department.

Vitarelli says there is long history of domestic problems and harassment complaints between Cohen and her former husband and their son and daughter.

"Police received info from a confidential source regarding harm that may come to her family, so we were fortunate enough to introduce an undercover officer into her life," Vitarelli said.

At one point, Vitarelli says, Cohen offered $3,000 to sink her ex's boat.

Neighbors and police believe Cohen has mental issues. One neighbor, Sharon Rozansky, has lived nearby for 40 years.

"I think the husband had left and she was alone there. I knew she didn't have great ties with her family so that's not shocking," Rozansky said. "What I'm hearing about the next level, that's shocking."

Cohen is charged with three counts of second-degree conspiracy.
