It happened around 8:30 a.m. on Route 9 southbound at Edgewood Drive in the Rogers Manor area.
That's where a car and a work truck collided.
It was originally believed the woman driving the car was ejected, but investigators say got out of the car after the crash then collapsed on the ground.
She was rushed to Christiana Hospital with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.
Route 9 was closed for about an hour following the crash.
