Student's birthday present: Buy supplies for school

PHILADELPHIA - June 22, 2010 That student is 11-year-old Kate Aschkenasy. Some like to call her "Amazing Kate." After this story, you will call her that too.

Kate is a student at the Shipley School in Bryn Mawr, Montgomery County. For her birthday in April, she told everyone, "Don't buy me presents. Give me money to buy supplies for a school that needs them."

That school is the West Philadelphia Achievement Charter School.

Tuesday, Kate personally delivered a $2,000 check to the school, and got to meet the students and faculty to see first-hand what her efforts have, and will, accomplish.

Kate has even bigger plans to grow her charity with her website http://www.kidshelpingschools.org.

Remember, she is only 11. Now, isn't that amazing?
