Suspects sought in 2 Franklin Twp. home invasions

FRANKLIN TWP., N.J. - July 19, 2010

Franklin Township police released a sketch of one of the men who they say staged two home invasions at gunpoint early Sunday morning.

The first invasion took place at 2:00 a.m. in the 3500 block of Coles Mill Road where a couple and their 26-year-old son were tied up, struck and robbed of $340. Still terrified, they didn't want to be identified, but agreed to talk with Action News.

"The dogs didn't bark. [The robbers] started beating him and then came and got us." The victim went on to tell us, "I got a bruise on my face and he got a concussion."

The bandits were apparently looking for money and drugs. The victim says they went to the wrong house.

Then at approximately 3:30 a.m. about 6 miles away in the 2500 block of Harding Highway the three struck again, roughing up a resident and stealing $40.

The men wore T-shirts over their faces but one slipped down and that's how police were able to create a composite sketch. The man had short dreadlocks and tattooed tears on his face.

Police say there hasn't been a home invasion in Franklin Township in a decade, but believe these two incidents were committed by the same men. If anyone recognizes the man in the sketch, call Franklin Township police at 856-694-1414 (856) 694-1414.
