Chopper 6 HD flew over Princeton Township, Mercer County New Jersey, finding trees down all over the area.
Much of the damage is in the area of South Harrison Street and Hartley Avenue: trees on cars; damaged homes; downed power lines; limbs littering streets and yards.
In the Butler Apartments, residents say their homes were shaking. Most of the extensive damage is on Devereaux Street.
"It was so fast that you didn't have time to react," Joelle Piercy told Action News. "It was literally two minutes long."
"The sky started darkening and you just thought it was a normal thunderstorm rolling through," added Caroline Guile. "Then the sky just thickened with rain and fog and wind. You couldn't see two feet in front of you."
Thirty of Princeton University's graduate students from the apartments had to find new places to stay because their homes were so badly damaged.
PSE&G has been working to restore power, it says about a dozen buildings are still without power and should be restored in the next few days
Nobody was reported hurt.
