Police: beach bodies don't match missing NJ woman

Police say none of the remains of four women found this past week on a Long Island beach highway are that of a missing New Jersey woman.

A Suffolk County police statement released late Thursday afternoon said homicide detectives have told Shannon Gilbert's family that the missing woman was not among the bodies found. They say the investigation into her May 1 disappearance would continue.

Police began finding the bodies as part of their search for Gilbert, a 24-year-old prostitute last seen in Oak Beach, a gated community of million-dollar waterfront homes on Long Island's south shore.

Police have yet to identify any of the four victims found on the side of the roadway. They believe a serial killer is likely responsible.
