Authorities in Shoreline, Washington, say two men knocked on 92-year-old Lester Matteson's door last week - and asked to use his phone.
Once inside, they grabbed the man, and taped him to a chair.
The men tore up the place and made off with more than $400 in cash and the man's pickup truck.
It took Matteson two hours to gnaw through the masking tape.
Other than bruises, he was not injured.
And he tells a TV station his lesson learned is: "Watch out who you let in."
