Freight train derails in Fairmount Park

FAIRMOUNT PARK - January 10, 2011

The derailment took place at around 10:45 p.m. on Brewery Hill and Kelly drives adjacent to the Schuylkill Expressway.

A spokesperson from CSX tells Action News that the train consisted of two locomotives and 89 cars. A total of nine cars derailed in the incident - three of which were tankers. The tankers were empty at the time of the derailment, but previously carried sulfuric acid.

The train was in route from Waycross, Georgia to Selkirk, New York.

There are no reports of injuries.
