Charter School students have temporary new home

PHILADELPHIA - January 13, 2011

Fire ripped through the Global Leadership Academy Charter School on Warren Street on Sunday morning. One firefighter was injured in the blaze.

For the time being, the school's 400 students will go to Turner Middle School at 59th Street and Baltimore Avenue.

The Global Leadership Academy, which serves students in grades K-8, was already in the process of constructing a new building when the fire struck.

The building is owned by a nearby church, Greater Bible Way Temple.

Classes at the West Philadelphia campus are suspended until Jan. 18th.

A news conference is scheduled for Friday.
