Wicked winds cause down trees and outages

BRYN MAWR, Pa. - February 19, 2011

The Lower Bucks County Red Cross officials are assisting a displaced family after a tree fell into their house on Balsam Road in Levittown.

No one was home at the time. There were no injuries reported.

A Rosemont College student was hit by a falling tree branch while walking near campus in Bryn Mawr Saturday.

Police report a down tree with possible entrapment near Rosemont College in Bryn Mawr Friday.

It happened in the 1700 block of West Montgomery Avenue.

The victim was taken to University of Pennsylvania Hospital with minor injuries.

And in Brookhaven, Delaware County, officials report a tree down along with several poles and wires on Bridgewater Road between Albert Road and Trimble Boulevard.

Police expect the road to be closed while PECO crews work on the downed wires.

And in New Jersey, fierce winds are believed to be the cause of another tree falling near a house just off of Kings Highway in Haddon Township.

The large tree ripped up from the roots on East Greenwood Street, taking down power lines and falling inches from a house. No injuries were reported.
