Suspect named in toy store robbery

WILMINGTON, Del. - February 24, 2011

The robbery happened at approximately 6:00 p.m. at the store, located in the 4000 block of Concord Pike in Wilmington.

The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Ryan Burkett, entered the store, approached the sales counter and confronted two female employees. Police say he then displayed a weapon and demanded money from the women.

The victims complied with Burkett and turned over an undisclosed amount of cash. He then ran out of the store. The victims were not injured.

A witness provided detectives with the registration number of a white work van that the suspect was observed entering after the robbery occurred. Investigators later learned that Burkett had asked an acquaintance for a ride to the Concord Square Shopping Center and had committed the robbery without the driver's knowledge.

Detectives have obtained warrants on Ryan Burkett charging him with two counts of Robbery 1st degree.

Burkett is described as standing 6'01 inches tall, with brown hair and a thin build. He has no known address; however, he has lived in Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Colorado.

Burkett should be considered armed and dangerous.
