Allentown gas blast victims upset by slow money

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - March 1, 2011

The daughter of a couple who lost their Allentown home in the February 9 blast says it's frustrating to see accounts of charity drives but no immediate help. Patty Grabowski says the families "need this money now."

Charity workers tell The Morning Call newspaper they're being careful to make sure money goes to those who truly need it.

Community Action Committee of the Lehigh Valley executive director Alan Jennings says his group has to be a responsible steward of limited resources.

Utility company UGI has already provided affected families with $20,000 to help them get back on their feet.
