Downed wire slows trains on Northeast Corridor

SECAUCUS, N.J. (AP) - March 11, 2011

Amtrak says a wire is down on one of two tracks over the Portal Bridge in New Jersey that crosses the Hackensack River between Kearny and Secaucus.

Amtrak trains are running up to 30 minutes behind schedule because there's only one track available and trains must alternate.

NJ Transit says Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast Line trains are subject to 30 minute delays in and out of New York City.

Midtown Direct trains are being diverted to and from Hoboken. PATH trains are cross-honoring at Hoboken.

Other trains that use Hoboken Terminal are subject to 15 to 20 minute delays due to congestion.
