2 EMTs injured in Mullica Twp. ambulance crash

MULLICA TOWNSHIP, N.J. - March 27, 2011

The front end of their ambulance was crushed when it slammed into a tree at around 2:00 Sunday morning.

Investigators say the ambulance, belonging to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City, swerved to avoid a vehicle that had pulled out of a bar on the White Horse Pike near Burdick Avenue

It took firefighters 45 minutes to free both EMTs from the wreckage.

One of the victims was taken by helicopter to Atlanticare Regional Medical center in Atlantic City, the other was driven to Atlanticare Regional. No word yet on their conditions.

There was no patient in the ambulance at the time of the crash.
