Ex-roommates arrested in Pa. man's death

CHESTER, Pa. (AP) - April 23, 2011

Delaware County District Attorney G. Michael Green said Brian Anderson, 21, and Donier White, 20, both of Chester, face charges of first- and third-degree murder, criminal conspiracy, abuse of a corpse and related offenses.

Police said city workers found the body of 19-year-old Toby Gale Jr. of Chester wrapped in plastic trash bags near a construction site on Thursday. Green said in a statement that the suspects were interviewed that night, and they confirmed that Gale had lived with them during the winter months but said they had not seen him for a few days.

Green said detectives went back to interview the men again and smelled a strong odor of cleaning products, but noticed that while the dining room and living room appeared dirty, the kitchen and middle room appeared to have been recently cleaned.

Prosecutors said that Anderson eventually told detectives he hit Gale on the head with a hammer and dumped the body and that White told detectives he helped dispose of the corpse. The district attorney did not mention a possible motive.

Green said the two men were to be arraigned Saturday night and were expected to be remanded to jail. It was unclear Saturday whether they had attorneys.
