Arrest warrant in death of Philly mayor's neighbor

PHILADELPHIA - April 28, 2011

Police on Wednesday said 43-year-old Edward Gause is wanted in the Nov. 5 death of 76-year-old Robert Lancaster in his home in the city's Wynnefield neighborhood.

The Philadelphia Daily News says Gause is a handyman who had been doing renovations on the victim's home, and authorities believe the slaying stemmed from an argument over payment.

Nutter's office said last fall that the mayor knew the victim only "as a neighbor living down the street."

Detective Ed Rocks of the homicide fugitive squad told the paper that Gause was spotted in the city a few weeks ago; it's unclear whether he has an attorney.
