June 11, 2011

Her mother is asking for your help to bring the sexual predator to justice.

"And she just kicked and fought, kicked and fought and managed to get out from underneath him and ran," said the victim's mother.

To protect her daughter, the mother of the jogger did not want her face shown. She describes how her then 17 year old daughter outsmarted her attacker.

"She's a tough girl, you just don't know what your instincts are going to be when something like that happens," her mother said. "As many of the detectives have told us, she has good instincts."

The brazen attack happened Monday, April 11, 2011 in the area of Valley Green Road, in the Wissahickon Creek Valley section of Fairmont Park.

It was about 8:20am when the teenager noticed a man standing along the path, but she went on her jog.

On the way back, he was in the same spot, but this time, he tackled her to the ground.

"He grabbed her, pushed her into the bushes and got on top of her," explained her mother.

She reacted quickly as he tried to pull her pants down. She escaped and ran to where she knew there would be people to help her.

The attacker is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5'8" tall with a muscular build and broad shoulders.

At the time, he was wearing a black hoodie and dark pants.

A $10,000 reward is being offered to bring the attacker to justice so that he will never stalk another jogger again.

"Somebody knows who he is. If you know who he is, please come forward, and give us information we can use to catch him. No one should have to go through this, and we should be able to enjoy our park."
