At 89, he's still flying.
He bought a light sports aircraft, took a refresher course and began flying again after retiring from the military more than 40 years ago.
He tells Florida Today he often takes his great granddaughters along for rides.
Hernandez flew the fabled P-51 during World War II, and went on to serve in Korea and Vietnam.
But now he's flying just for fun, and these days, no one is trying to shoot him down.
