Car crashes into Taco Bell in Montco, 5 hurt

EAST NORRITON, Pa. - August 24, 2011

The crash happened around 12:40 p.m. Wednesday at the restaurant at 2722 DeKalb Pike in East Norriton.

One woman was trapped under the car and was taken out on a stretcher around 1:40 p.m. Rescuers say that she was conscious, alert and breathing fine. She was flown to Hahnemann Hospital.

EMS officials say another woman was flown to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, while three others were taken to Mercy Surburban, which is right across the street.

The view from Chopper 6 HD showed the car almost entirely inside the Taco Bell.

Police say an elderly man was backing his Mercury Grand Marquis out of a parking spot when he hit a white sedan, apparently panicked, then put the car in drive and hit the accelerator.

Witnesses say the man appeared dazed and confused but unhurt after the crash. He was also taken to Mercy Suburban to be checked out.

No word yet if charges will be filed.
