Pedestrian struck by off-duty officer on I-95

Action News has learned that an off-duty Philadelphia police officer was driving a car that struck and killed a man on I-95.

Police say it was around 11:30 Monday night when the victim, believed to be 25 to 30 years old, jumped off the concrete median and into the northbound lanes of traffic, just north of the Girard Avenue exit in Kensington.

He was pronounced dead a short time later.

The officer suffered facial lacerations and was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital in stable condition.

Police have identified the officer involved as Scott McLane. McLane has not been charged with a crime.

The investigation is continuing.
