Investigators say at about 11:30 on Thursday night, the suspect's pickup truck ran a red light at 22nd Street and Passyunk Avenue in South Philadelphia.
Officers say it then plowed into a Toyota, bounced off that car and hit a First District patrol car parked at the intersection.
The officer in the police cruiser suffered a concussion.
He is being treated at a hospital.
He is expected to recover.
No one else was hurt.
The driver of the pickup has been charged with DUI.
