NJ man charged in liquor store crash

MANSFIELD TOWNSHIP, N.J. - December 6, 2011

Mansfield police charged 51-year-old John Mew with the leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, failing to report an accident and careless driving.

Police say the Hackettstown resident crashed his Chevrolet Blazer into the Bottle King store on Nov. 29. with such force it shook the building.

Police say Mew walked into the store and purchased three mini bottles of tequila.

Police told The Daily Record of Parsippany as employees followed him out of the store, the driver said "there's more damage to my vehicle then the building" and drove away.

The license plate registration led police to Mew.
