Allentown records first homicide of 2012

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) - January 7, 2011

Police say a man's body was found on the sidewalk in front of a food store in the center of the city after gunshots were reported shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday.

Lehigh County coroner Scott Grim said the victim had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are trying to identify him.

Detectives from the county district attorney's office were interviewing witnesses later in the day. District Attorney Jim Martin said no arrest had been made.

Last year, it took six months for the city to record its first homicide.
