It happened around 7:00 p.m. at 4th and Market streets in Wilmington.
County police say the officer was driving on 4th Street, when he was struck by an SUV.
The female driver tried to drive off, but was apprehended about two blocks from the crash scene.
The woman and the officer were taken to Christiana Hospital for minor injuries.
Police are investigating the crash.
Charges are pending against the driver.
