Philly Beer Week

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - June 7, 2012

Dozens of locations have been offering unique presentations of beer in all its styles. Some establishments have been doing more.

The Farmers Cabinet in Center City serves dozens of craft beers on tap every day. Their constantly-changing selection includes products their own brewmaster makes at their own brewery in Virginia.

During Beer Week, he and two other experts challenged themselves to come up with a series of "one-offs"...beers made in small batches and designed to last one day.

If any is left over, you would be able to order it until it's gone. But once that selection sells out, it will not be replaced. The brewers have been using various woods and teas to develop unique flavor profiles.

Their creations were made with an intensifying hop content, so your visit later in the week will probably be for more-bitter beers...some drinkers prize that.

Ordinarily, The Farmers Cabinet opens around 3:00pm weekdays. But during Beer Week, it's open every day at 11:30am.

The kitchen is accustomed to producing beer-friendly cuisine. During Beer Week, the chef will be working closely with the brewers, tasting each day's featured product and coming up with dishes that coordinate.

The Farmers Cabinet is located at 1113 Walnut Street in Center City. It's decorated with a 1920's theme and music on the house audio system "matches" the decor.
