TSA recommends 7 be fired at Phila. Airport

PHILADELPHIA - June 15, 2012

A news release issued Friday morning confirmed was sources had told Action News earlier in the day.

The TSA said the workers are among 10 who are accused of paying bribes to a training instructor last year in order to pass annual proficiency exams.

The alleged bribery was uncovered during an eight month investigation, the TSA said. The employees were removed from security duties in November 2011.

The other three employees linked to the scandal have already resigned.

"Any employee who willfully violates TSA rules will be held accountable for their conduct and appropriately disciplined," said Chris McLaughlin, Assistant Administrator for the Office of Security Operations, in a statement.

The training instructor pleaded guilty in Federal District Court on February 28, 2012, to a charge of bribery, the TSA said. The instructor's name was not released.
