Police: man tries to rob 2 New Castle restaurants

NEW CASTLE, Del. - August 4, 2012

According to authorities the attempted robberies occurred just blocks from each other on North DuPont Highway at 8:57 p.m. and 9:04 p.m. Friday.

Police say a male suspect with tattooed arms first entered a McDonald's and demanded money from a cashier. The man then grabbed the register and began to remove it from the counter. A patron wrestled with the suspect before the suspect cut the patron with a knife and fled.

The man then apparently entered a nearby restaurant, The Dog House, and placed an order. When an employee rang up the order and the cash drawer opened, the suspect tried grabbing the drawer. He didn't get any money and fled in a white Dodge Charger.
