NJ panel to consider human trafficking measure

TRENTON, N.J. - October 15, 2012

The Judiciary Committee is holding hearings in Trenton on Monday regarding a bill that would establish a state commission on human trafficking and increase protections and recourse for victims, among other provisions.

Experts say human trafficking is prevalent in New Jersey because of the state's location and the diversity of its population.

New Jersey's attorney general in July announced the creation of a new unit to expand his office's work on combating human trafficking and train law enforcement officials to recognize potential human trafficking cases.
