Teen locked in police van overnight sues NJ town

FORT LEE, N.J. (AP) - January 1, 2013

Adam Kim seeks undisclosed compensatory and punitive damages in the suit filed in U.S. District Court in Newark. He alleges Fort Lee officers falsely arrested and unlawfully detained him, and that borough officials failed to implement appropriate policies and were negligent.

Borough officials told The Record (http://bit.ly/Z83kdI) they would not comment on the suit.

Kim was among several youths rounded up in March 2011 after a loud house party. The van was parked at police headquarters and the teens said they were "stranded" for more than 14 hours with no food, water or cellphones.
