Radnor Township native missing from Brown University

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - March 23, 2013

22-year-old Sunil Tripathi, a 2008 Radnor High School graduate, was last seen on March 16 at his apartment near Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.

Police found his cell phone, credit card and other personal items in his room but Tripathi was nowhere to be found.

"We don't know where he is, we're scared, we're all very scared," said Nina Taylor, Tripathi's aunt.

Taylor has been staying in the area to help comfort family members during this time of uncertainty.

She tells Action News her nephew, a philosophy major, had been on leave from Brown for about a year trying to figure out his future

"He was never diagnosed with depression, but it was definitely a difficult time period for him," said Taylor.

Taylor is the last known person to have legitimate communication with Tripathi. The close-knit relatives texted for about an hour Friday night.

"I was talking to him about the possibility of seeing someone to talk to, to help him through this difficult time period," said Taylor.

Taylor says her nephew, a very private person, left behind a vague note. She says police have it but she would not disclose details.

"There is concern as to whether or not he harmed himself, but they're all, FBI looking for him alive," said Taylor.

Tripathi's family and friends from all over the country have flown to Providence, Rhode Island to join in the growing search.

Flyers are printed and posted daily and social media is also helping to spread the word of their loved one's disappearance.

Family members have set up a Facebook page to assist in their search efforts.

"If by somehow some miracle Sunil is watching this, we love him and we want to know he's okay," said Taylor.

Tripathi is six feet tall and 130 pounds. His family says he was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black Eastern Mountain Sports ski jacket, glasses, and a Philadelphia Eagles wool hat.

The FBI has also joined the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Providence Police at (401) 243-6191.
