Owls halt construction

YUMA, Ariz. (AP) - July 25, 2013

But the job has been delayed because some protected owls have been found on the site.

Construction crews have found some western burrowing owls.

And now the hospital is working with state wildlife officials to relocate the two dozen birds.

The CEO of the hospital says the birds can be moved safely and that they will be comfortable in their new home.

The burrowing owls live in the ground, leaving them especially vulnerable to development projects.
