According to the Water Department, a crew working at the site was making a repair to a 12 inch water main and in the process of making that repair a crew member, who was hand digging, accidentally hit a PECO duct containing a live line.
The worker was not injured, but the Water Department is having him medically evaluated as a precaution.
A representative from PECO tells Action News there are no power outages in the area.
The Water Department plans to investigate.
In the meantime, police are blocking traffic in the area as far out as 21st and Arch and 22nd near JFK.
