US: 3,300 in NJ chose health plans by Nov. 30

TRENTON, N.J. - December 11, 2013

But still well under 1 percent of eligible residents have signed up.

The federal government announced Wednesday that about 2,500 people completed the process in New Jersey in November. In October, just over 700 signed up.

An estimated 900,000 state residents are eligible for the exchange that is a key part of President Barack Obama's health insurance overhaul.

About 4,800 people have completed applications but not yet selected a plan.

The coverage begins next month.

Through last month, about 137,000 people nationwide had signed up for coverage in the 36 states where the federal government is running the exchange.
