Plane heading to Atlantic City struck by lightning

Officials from Spirit Airlines say a plane heading to the Atlantic City Airport from Florida was struck by lightning Thursday night.

The incident occurred after Flight 262 left Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport heading towards Atlantic City, New Jersey.

The aircraft was able to land safely and on schedule.

There were no reports of any injuries.

Officials say the plane is undergoing a lengthy inspection to ensure continued safe operations.

Customers impacted by the delay from the inspection are being accommodated, according to the airline.
