Vigil held for senior airman killed in I-95 Fishtown crash

PHILADELPHIA - February 23, 2014

Twenty six year old Victor du Quach, who was stationed at Dover Air Force Base, was killed while on his way to work during Tuesday's snow.

More than 200 friends and family members convened on the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art on Sunday evening.

"Most of all, Victor was a leader, a trait that was immediately noticed upon meeting him," said Jackie Lee.

Lee, Quach's longtime girlfriend and their close friends held a vigil to commemorate the life of young man inspired to make a change in the lives of others.

"Everything he did, he had a smile on his face and you couldn't help but to smile back at him," said Lee.

On Tuesday, Quach was headed to work when his car spun out of control and was hit by a large dump truck on i-95 by Girard.

"He is a great young man. He bring us a lot of happy and smiling in my family," said Suet Ping Chui.

Chui called Quach a son. He lived with her family for the last six years.

"We had our lives ahead of us and it was just taken," said Lee.

Quach worked as a fuel and water technician with the 436th Civil Engineer Squadron.

"I want the world to know what an amazing guy he was, how charismatic he was, how passionate he was, he really left a mark in all of our lives," said Miguel Callanta.

Quach was also the backbone behind his growing family of friends.

"He was someone's son, he was a godfather, he was a friend, he was a boyfriend," said Lee.

Callanta, a friend, remembered Quach as the person who is now gone but who will forever brighten their lives.

"It has been very tough, it is very hard, he was very close to all of us. He had a way even if you just met him, you would remember who he is. He had a very welcoming attitude and always made you feel like you were at home," said Callanta.
