3 Univ. of Del. students arrested for home invasion, assault

NEWARK, Del. - April 22, 2014

21-year-old Andrew E. Lee of Mclean, Virginia, 21-year-old Jason B. Zimmell of Lincroft, New Jersey, and 23-year-old Ayrton J. Doerr of Wayne, New Jersey surrendered to police on Monday. All three were charged with Home Invasion, Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony, Assault 2nd Degree, Conspiracy 2nd Degree, and Criminal Mischief Under $1,000.

According to police, it was approximately 2:00 a.m. on Saturday when the three students entered an unlocked apartment complex in the unit block of Wrightstowne Lane.

They allegedly kicked through a locked bedroom door and assaulted a 22-year-old male University of Delaware student, who was in the bedroom with the resident, a 20 year-old female University of Delaware student.

The victim was kicked, punched and hit with a candle jar, police said, and the assault didn't end until a female roommate entered the bedroom and intervened.

The victim was treated at Christiana Hospital after sustaining a broken cheekbone and required five stitches above his right eye, three below the right eye, and three staples on his head due to lacerations.

Police say Andrew Lee and the female resident had a relationship that had recently ended.

After being charged the defendants received $46,500 secured bail, which all three posted. They also received a no-contact order with the victim of the assault and the resident of the apartment.
