Police-involved shooting under investigation in Ambler

AMBLER, Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- Authorities in Montgomery County are investigating a police-involved shooting.

Officers with the Ambler Borough Police Department responded to reports of a man with a knife near Forest Ave and School Street around 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Upon arrival, police encountered 43-year-old Robert Aguilar Cholula wielding a large, butcher style knife.

Police say the suspect ignored commands to drop the knife and began to run toward the officers.

One officer fired his taser, which police say did not stop the subject.

The other officer fired one shot, striking Cholula.

He was transported to Jefferson Abington Hospital, where he later died.

Montgomery County Detectives are conducting an investigation into the shooting per protocol for officer-involved shootings.
