PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A former Philadelphia municipal court judge plead guilty for using his position to fix cases.

On Tuesday, 61-year old Joseph Waters had resigned his position on the bench.

According to court documents, Waters called judges who were presiding over a friend's small claims case, asking for a favorable ruling.

As part of the plea, he also admitted to his part in fixing a firearms case for a friend.

Waters had served as judge since 2009.
