Man, 20, charged with Center City robberies

CENTER CITY (WPVI) -- Police have made an arrest in the robberies of two Center City businesses.

20-year-old Quontail Silver of Philadelphia was apprehended on Tuesday.

Police say Silver robbed the Ubiq store at 1509 Walnut Street on January 14th.

Police say as Silver was getting ready to pay for three shoes, he showed the employee a handgun, telling him he wanted everything for free and demanded money from the cash register.

After the employee complied, police say Silver fled with an undetermined amount of money.

Silver is also accused of robbing the Ultimo Coffee Bar at 1900 South 15th Street on January 18th.

Police say Silver entered the coffee shop at 9:00 p.m. and pulled a handgun demanding money.

He then took an undetermined amount of money from the cash register and fled the store.

Silver is charged with robbery and related offenses.
